Who we are

Who we are

In the summer of 2016, a group of friends decided to take care of Bosco Pianetti, transferring the center of gravity from the chaotic city to the silent wonder of hills, mountains and woods.

From July 2019 to May 2022 we were forced to a heavy and painful closure which, however, allowed us to reopen with greater conviction and many new features. Putting this place back together has been tiring but rewarding, and it's beautiful when people are happy, they are amazed in front of a starry sky, they can forget everything and relax by reading one of our books on a lawn dotted with fragrant gorse, they get excited stroking the donkeys and admiring the sunset from the golden fields or the swimming pool, the grandeur of the oaks, the profile of the mountains. We believe that people can get better by rediscovering essential, minimal gestures of care for the environment, of contemplation.

We put kindness, hospitality and welcome first; we love the simple life, the sounds of nature, good genuine food, animals, reading and writing.
Bosco Pianetti welcomes people of every sexual orientation and identity, ethnicity, religion.
We love children very much and we take care of them with care: pets, as long as they are docile, are welcome and can sleep in the room with their human parents. We repudiate racist clientele who embrace discriminatory and violent ideas. Bosco Pianetti is not suitable for people who do not like nature and would prefer to spend a holiday in a luxury resort, perhaps complaining about the absence of television.

Ours is more a home than a standard hotel: we do everything to satisfy the customer, reserving care and attention to their well-being, but we are not a luxury hotel that pretends to be a farmhouse, like there are many: ours is a place of authentic hospitality, with a taste of other times, rustic and rural, whose fulcrum is the contact with pure and uncontaminated nature.

A literary holiday

Bosco Pianetti stands out for being the first literary farm in Sicily and one of the few in Italy. We believe in the educational and transformative value of reading, writing, of all forms of art. We are creating a poetic, narrative and curative forest, animated by reading activities, artistic performances and writing workshops. We dedicate the oldest oaks to Italian poets, with "baptismal rites" consisting of round circles and readings under the foliage and shared reflections on the value of poetry. We have an ecopsychological and ecopoetic approach: we think that both nature and poetry are precious healing experiences, and combining them together creates an extraordinary opportunity. We accompany customers who request it at the time of booking in "eco-friendly" walks in the woods, where we visit the estate and on request we read poems or stories in close contact with the trees.

At Bosco Pianetti, reading is central: there are books available for guests in every room for adults and children, to form a widespread library, with over 3000 titles. We also have books in English, German and French. We offer discounts to those who donate books in foreign languages.

When we can, we welcome with a poem and occasionally read literary passages to our guests, garnishing breakfasts with poems in multiple languages. We periodically propose narrative reading and writing paths, autobiography, poetry, together with nature observation activities. We are part of the National Network of Straw Theaters and in August we organize a festival in a theater built with 150 hay bales in an evocative setting: a vast meadow in the mountains, with the sea in the distance. They are three days of shows and concerts at sunset and dusk, and during the day, in the thick of the woods or in the hills, readings, workshops, songs, poetic baptisms of oaks and book presentations.

The coordinator of the literary farmhouse project and owner of the farm is Leonora Cupane, psychologist, Gestalt psychotherapist and specialist trainer in autobiography, creative writing and poetry therapy.

Opening periods

From 1 June to 30 September we are open every day, but it is always good to book, avoiding coming without notice. From October to May we are open on weekends, except for the winter closing period (10 January - 10 March).
